Things Becoming a “Better-Busy” for Ben Roethlisberger

By on June 11, 2012

Ben Roethlisberger’s name has been in headlines for the better part of his nine year NFL Career. These headlines have been good and bad and have ranged between some of the worst moments in Roethlisberger’s life/career, to some of the best.

Roethlisberger’s career has seen the following headlines: an offensive rookie of the year award, a Super Bowl 40 championship, a near-fatal motorcycle crash, a sexual assault case, another Super Bowl championship in Super Bowl 43, another sexual assault case and a loss in Super Bowl 45.

However, after being cleared of charges in his second sexual assault case and vowing to be a better quarterback on and off the field Ben has began to get things settled. In the past year Roethlisberger has gotten married, made his second Pro Bowl, earned his degree from Miami University (Miami of Ohio), had his number 7 retired at Miami University, and is expecting his first child, a boy.

Roethlisberger promised to be better and he has been nothing but. He is still busy making headlines, but this is a “better-busy.” Fans may have worried when Roethlisberger showed his disapproval with Bruce Arians “retirement” earlier this offseason and the negative rumors surrounding a relationship with new Offensive Coordinator Todd Haley. However, Haley and Roethlisberger both deny any issue and have both made positive statements about the future of the Steelers offense.

Roethlisberger has been through a lot in nine years, but he is living up to the promise he made to Steeler Nation almost two years ago. Some fans will likely never forgive Roethlisberger, but he’s doing his best to show he’s changed. I’m not implying guilt in either of his cases, but there’s not question that he put himself in a bad position nevertheless.

Hopefully one day all fans will forgive and forget with Roethlisberger as they have with so many others (Kobe Bryant, Mike Vick, Ray Lewis, etc….).
