During the 6 o’clock news feed Wednesday morning, WPXI-TV anchor Todd McDermott reported ex-Pittsburgh Steelers receiver Hines Ward had signed with the rival Baltimore Ravens. The details of the deal were ”an incentive laden 3 year, $9 million contract.” The report was fake, but instilled worry among Steelers fans; especially those who heard the details announced on tv or the radio this morning.
The only issue with this report is that Ward to the Ravens make all to much sense. The Ravens have little depth at wide receiver behind Anquan Boldin and Torrey Smith and could use a veteran like Ward to work with Flacco and some of their young offensive players. Ward would be the third receiver and help draw coverage to the middle of the field to help free up Smith who is a deep threat.
Steelers fans may disown Ward if he signed with the hated Baltimore Ravens, but could you really blame him? Not many teams are as ready for a Super Bowl run as Baltimore and any player in Wards situation would be looking for one last chance at a title. Nobody wants to see Ward in the purple and black, but it almost makes too much sense not to happen. Where else would Ward be welcome to play his physical style of football as well as have a shot at a Super Bowl? I can’t think of many places.

This is just WRONG any way you look at it. And yes, despite everything he did for the Steelers, I would HATE him if he signed with Baltimore
